Small-Town Feel With Park-To-Park Appeal

WNamed after Windsor in England, Windsor Terrace is a sliver of a neighborhood with a feel that’s reminiscent of small-town America. Along its tree-lined streets, townhouse front porches are decked out with rocking chairs, and pre- and post-war apartment buildings and newer condominiums reflect the laid-back, residential character.

Tucked between Green-Wood Cemetery and Prospect Park, Windsor Terrace offers easy access to the park’s Tennis Center and Kensington Dog Run. In recent years, an influx of newcomers have been welcomed by plentiful green spaces, cozy coffee shops and a small but mighty collection of small businesses.

Prospect Park West, the neighborhood’s main shopping district, covers the essentials, including a handful of eateries, cafes, bars and shops, along with the famous Terrace Bagels. Newer restaurants have been sprouting along Prospect Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway too.

For a glimpse of what the neighborhood was like in the past, grab a barstool at Farrell’s—one of Brooklyn’s oldest bars, and a popular haunt of local cops and firefighters. The Styrofoam beer cups may be gone, but the memories (and stories) still flow.

Commuting options include the F and G trains as well as multiple bus lines.
