Culture, Community and Commerce

As Brooklyn’s bustling central business district, Downtown Brooklyn boasts a vibrant mix of office buildings, cultural institutions, civic buildings, courts, iconic landmarks, residential towers offering city views, historic rowhouses and dynamic community spaces.

Located in the borough’s northwestern corner, Downtown Brooklyn (sometimes called DoBro) stretches from Cadman Plaza to Navy Street and from the Brooklyn Queens Expressway to Hoyt Street—and is bordered by Fort Greene, Boerum Hill, Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO. The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership plays a key role in fostering economic development, enhancing public spaces and ensuring the continued vibrancy of the area.

The neighborhood features a lively dining scene and multiple gathering spots, including Cadman Plaza Park, the year-round Greenmarket at Brooklyn Borough Hall, City Point, Atlantic Terminal Mall, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and DeKalb Market Hall.

Residents enjoy proximity to cultural institutions and entertainment venues such as the New York Transit Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Mark Morris Dance Center, ISSUE Project Room, Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, Barclays Center and Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Downtown Brooklyn is also home to several colleges, including New York City College of Technology, Long Island University Brooklyn and NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering.

And with access to multiple subway lines, buses and CitiBikes, commuting throughout the city is convenient.
