Brooklyn’s coffee scene is rich with diversity, with Black-owned cafes playing a major role in shaping neighborhood culture. Each spot offers more than just a cup of coffee—they create community hubs where people connect over shared stories and traditions.
In neighborhoods like Park Slope, Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy, these cafes blend global flavors with local warmth, offering everything from La Colombe espresso to donuts, empanadas to Caribbean-inspired bites.
As you explore these unique cafes, you’re also supporting vibrant entrepreneurs who are dedicated to uplifting Brooklyn.
Here in Park Slope, if you’re craving a La Colombe coffee or espresso drink complemented with fresh-baked pastries and small bites, head to Whisk & Whiskey. And don’t forget to return in the evening for a seasonal cocktail, wine or beer. With a focus on community and neighborhood, and a commitment to welcome everyone, Chef Coy (aka Secoyah Browne) and owner/general manager Chandra Touch combine their respective Trinidadian and Cambodian roots to create a meeting and event space where the Caribbean meets Southeast Asia. Follow their Instagram for event info.

The intersectional feminist shop was founded by Kalima DeSuze in 2017, as a place to shine light on the “voices, images and stories of womxn-identified folx” and the majority of their books and events do just that.
