Asian-Owned Restaurants To Try in Park Slope, Brooklyn
Beyond the charming tree-lined blocks of brownstones, some of the things we love most about having our real estate office in Park Slope are the diversity and endless food options.
In honor of May being Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, we want to highlight some newer Asian-owned food spots that have popped up throughout the neighborhood.
As we celebrate the AAPI community, we’re reminded that the soul of our neighborhood is often found in the kitchens and storefronts that keep our streets thriving and our bellies full.
Andamiro
Andamiro opened where Naruto Ramen once was on 5th Avenue in Park Slope, offering a curated selection of affordable Korean dishes by Chef Suho Lee. The beautifully plated offerings include a comforting bowl of gukbap (a soupy rice dish) with beef or chicken, or jangjorim (a steamed rice and egg dish) for lunch, while the dinner menu also features gukbap but alongside small plate options. And there are vegan selections too.

Breadivore Bakery
While we’re talking about 5th Avenue, we’d also like to highlight Breadivore bakery in South Slope where owner Cixiu Gao serves up a carb-lover’s trove of French and Italian baked goodies with inspiration from Asia. Go for the egg tart and stay for the 24-hour-fermented sourdough and seasonal items including a Chinese tahini and Okinawa black sugar croissant, a fig tart or brioche pull-apart. And if you’re afraid they might run out of something, you can always pre-order up to 14 days in advance.

Noodle Lane
Noodle Lane has been around since 2011 at Smorgasburg and is now also serving Cantonese and Sichuan food here in Park Slope. Founder Lane Li grew up watching her mom cook over a wooden stove in China, went on to attend culinary school (after a career in finance) and has been sharing her delicious food with us since. Whether you come for the soup dumplings, dan dan noodles, pickled fish or veggies, you are in for a real treat.

Lore
Born in India, chef and owner Jay Kumar kicked off his culinary career in Switzerland before coming to Brooklyn where he opened Lore to “reimagine Indian cuisine through the lens of global community.” Combining Indian spices and cooking methods with global influences has resulted in a creative menu with dishes like biscuits with cardamom jam, kimchi uttapam and roti ravioli made with eggplant and vindaloo sauce. Each menu item also includes clear dietary guidelines which might help you narrow down your tasty options.

Wangs
If it’s Korean-style wings you’re looking for, head to Wangs on the cusp of Gowanus and Park Slope. Chef-owner Sara Nguyen once appeared on Top Chef (as the show’s youngest contestant) but today she’s running this takeout window that’s small in size and big on flavor. Choose from soul food items with an Asian twist including wings, popcorn chicken, Asian-spiced fried chicken, a bahn mi-style fried chicken sandwich and vegetable sides.

A café by day and wine bar at night, they offer all-day dim sum and shareables like pork dumplings, mushroom dumplings, spicy Thai slaw and chicken curry bao buns. Shaka Shaka Tiki
Originally from Hawaii, owner Garrett Mukai opened Shaka Shaka Tiki in 2018 as a neighborhood bar where Prospect Heights locals can mingle and listen to good music. The bar is known for its friendly service, where you can enjoy a cocktail beneath the glow of green lights and tropical hanging plants that conjure the verdant landscape of Hawaii.

Syko
Though it’s been around for a couple years, let’s not forgot Syko, a Syrian-Korean eatery in Windsor Terrace owned by James Kim, his wife Rosette Khoury Kim, and Rosette’s brothers, Mazen and Michael Khoury. Choose from the Syrian, Korean or Fusion menus with dishes like a falafel kimchi bowl, a scallion pancake falafel pizza or scallion pancake shawarma pizza. They also recently opened Dukan Syko, a neighborhood grocery store.
