Creating Cozy Reading Nooks and Book Displays for Brooklyn Homes

January 12, 2026

Some of our real estate agents are big readers, so it’s no surprise we’ve written posts about Black owned bookstores in NYC and our favorite Brooklyn book shops. This time, we’re exploring reading from another angle, looking at some of our favorite Brooklyn reading spaces, cozy nooks and book storage ideas we’ve either staged or come across in our home listings.

Whether it’s a built-in bench by a window, a thoughtfully styled shelf or a simple chair tucked into an underused corner, these spaces prove that an idyllic reading area doesn’t require a lot of square footage.

Hopefully the photos above inspire you to carve out your own reading nook, refresh your book storage or rethink how you display books in your Brooklyn home. Just because many of us in New York are tight on space doesn’t mean our books need to stay hidden.

And if you’re a bibliophile or simply looking to read more books this year, January is the time to set your 2026 reading goal through a website or app like Goodreads, The StoryGraph or Fable.
