Boerum Hill

Despite what its name suggests, Boerum Hill is anything but hilly. Instead, the neighborhood is beloved for its flat, wide streets, well-preserved low-rise architecture and strong sense of community. Tree-lined blocks are dotted with community gardens, Greek Revival and Italiante rowhouses, and a charming Historic District.
Bordered by Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, Park Slope and Downtown Brooklyn—with Fort Greene and Brooklyn Heights just beyond—Boerum Hill sits at the crossroads of multiple dynamic neighborhoods.
Community is central here, as seen through the Boerum Hill Association, which preserves architecture, hosts an annual holiday potluck and House Tour, and champions neighborhood beautification efforts and quality-of-life improvements. The Hoyt Street Association lends a similar spirit, supporting the popular Hoyt Street Garden.
Bustling Smith Street and Atlantic Avenue are commercial hubs boasting restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques and entertainment venues including Roulette. Residents can enjoy proximity to The Invisible Dog Art Center, Barclays Center, the New York Transit Museum and City Point BKLYN, home to the borough’s only Alamo Drafthouse Cinema.
Known for its central location, literary and film history (featured in Spike Lee’s Clockers and two Jonathan Lethem novels), and exceptional access to multiple transit lines, Boerum Hill offers small-scale Brooklyn living with big-city convenience.
