Prospect Heights

While diminutive in size, Prospect Heights is rich with cultural institutions and recognized by its leafy side streets, row after row of colorful townhouses, and stately pre-war buildings along Plaza Street East and Eastern Parkway. It’s also home to a Historic District that has around 850 buildings.
Hugging Prospect Park’s north side, the neighborhood sits between Flatbush, Atlantic and Washington Avenues. And a newer housing development near Barclays Center is spawning a sub-neighborhood of its very own called Pacific Park.
Prospect Heights is home to some of Brooklyn’s most renowned cultural hot spots, including the world-class Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park Zoo, and the impressive Central branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.
The neighborhood is teeming with artsy boutiques and eateries such as Tom’s Restaurant—a beloved local fixture since 1936. Vanderbilt Avenue and Flatbush Avenue boast a dynamic selection of restaurants, while Washington Avenue has a wide variety of lively bars and cafes. On Saturday mornings, aspiring gourmets gather at the Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket to stock up on the freshest local ingredients.
Prospect Heights puts Prospect Park—and its lesser-known neighbor, Mount Prospect Park—practically at residents’ doorsteps, with the opportunity to explore nature trails and gardens, delight in outdoor picnics and gather with locals.
And with access to multiple train lines and a major transportation hub at Atlantic Terminal, Prospect Heights offers plenty of ways to get around.
